Professor: Zhang Zhaoyang, Professor of Chinese History at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Zhang Zhaoyang obtained his Ph.D. in history from University of California at Berkeley in 2010. He is a professor in the department of history, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Having many publications in leading domestic and international journals, he has very broad research interests, which include history of Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, Chinese legal history, social history and etc.

Seminar 1: Introduction to Legalists and their core ideas

Seminar 2–5: Selected readings from the Book of Lord Shang

Seminar 6–9: Selected readings from the Hanfeizi

Seminar 10: The influence of Legalists on Chinese History
